Flu Season: Boost Your Immunity w/ ACV

Flu Season: Boost Your Immunity w/ ACV

Apple cider vinegar has been around for thousands of years. It was considered a natural remedy for various cultures such as Greece, Africa, and China. Recently, however, people are now more aware of its health benefits and amazing properties. It’s a re-discovery, if you will!

WHAT IS APPLE CIDER VINEGAR

Apple cider vinegar (ACV) is fermented juice from crushed apples. To produce this, two fermentation processes are required-- once to make an alcoholic cider and a second time to make it into a vinegar. First, apples are crushed into mashes and then they are exposed to yeast. The natural sugar from the apples becomes fermented and gets turned into alcohol. Afterwards, the second fermentation process begins.

Since apples are known to contain various minerals and dietary fibers, as well as acetic acid and nutrients such as Vitamin B and Vitamin C, it is known to produce lots of health benefits when digested. Purely uses organic ACV with the mother sourced locally and infused with fruits, herbs, roots and botanicals for the added health benefits and deliciousness!

BENEFITS OF DRINKING ACV

So, what are the benefits of drinking ACV? Here is a list from Healthline:

1. Boost Immunity

Research has shown that apple cider vinegar has antimicrobial properties and can kill bacteria, yeasts, and fungal infections. Apple cider vinegar has antimicrobial and antioxidant effects. Many of its health benefits are due to its polyphenolic compounds. These are active chemicals in plants, including fruits and vegetables.

2. For Improved Digestion

ACV is known to increase the acidity of your stomach, which helps your body create more pepsin, the enzyme that breaks down protein. ACV0 include the “mother,” which is a colony of beneficial probiotic bacteria. These can help support the gut and immune system.

3. For Blood Sugar Management

ACV is often used as a natural way to control blood sugar levels, especially for people with insulin resistance. The most effective and healthiest way to regulate blood sugar levels is to avoid refined carbs and sugar, but apple cider vinegar may also have a beneficial effect.

4. For Weight Loss

Vinegar may help people lose weight by increasing feelings of fullness and reducing the amount of food eaten throughout the day However, ACV is more likely to aid in weight loss when combined with other diet and lifestyle changes.

5. For Women with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)

Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal condition associated with abnormal menstrual changes, high levels of androgen hormones, ovarian cysts, and insulin resistance. Drinking ACV regularly is known to improve hormone levels.

6. For General Wellness

Other popular reasons for taking apple cider vinegar include protection against heart disease, reducing the risk of cancer, and fighting bacterial infection.

HOW TO DRINK ACV

Since there are so many health benefits of ACV, you’re probably thinking of drinking one right now. But first, you have to remember that ACV is still a type of vinegar, we must first dilute it or mix it with other beverages before intake.

Fortunately, Purely is a lot easier to drink and it’s delicious! We infused fresh fruit/juice, roots, herbs and botanicals in organic ACV, therefore the taste is brighter, fruity and juicier! Not to mention the health properties of the super-fruits we infused with. We have tasty drink recipes for you on our blog to make tonics, mocktails and cocktails! However, if you want to drink it as is, add 1oz of Purely to 4-5oz sparkling water.

HOW MUCH ACV SHOULD YOU DRINK DAILY

It’s very important that you don’t drink too much ACV. It is, after all, still an acid. We recommend a dosage of 1-2 tablespoons per day. Remember, a little goes a long way! Purely is lighter, you can drink as much as 3 servings (2oz per serving) throughout the day.

WHEN TO NOT DRINK ACV

If you have underlying problems such as stomach ulcer or kidney problems, ACV, unfortunately, is not for you as it can cause more problems than benefits. As we said earlier, vinegar is an acid and may cause problems to some people even when diluted. If you have any health issues, please consult your physician first before consuming.

The flu season is here and it's better safe to drink immunity boosting beverages for our bodies to fight it because we will have better chance when our bodies are stronger and prepared!
