What is drinking vinegar or shrub?

A shrub is a vinegar-based fruit syrup and drinking vinegar is just another name for it. The history of shrubs dates back to the colonial era where shrubs were used to preserve fruit before refrigeration was invented. The vinegar helped to preserve the fruit while adding a unique tasty flavor. The term “shrub” itself is derived from the Arabic word “sharāb” meaning “to drink”.

What is the shelf life and how long will it last once I open it?

Purely is shelf stable for 24 months unopened and unrefrigerated (see best by date on bottle). Once you open it, we do recommend keeping them in the fridge. They should be good for another 3-6 months once you open them but let’s hope you need more before then!

How often should I drink Purely?

Purely drinking vinegar is food -- not a supplement or drug. This means you can drink them as much as your heart desires! There is no rule here about how much to drink since Purely drinks are all natural foods. Of course if you are mixing Purely with any type of alcohol we do ask to drink responsibly! Cheers!

How much Purely should I use when making a soda or cocktail?

For cocktails, we recommend .5oz - 1oz per cocktail depending on the drink.
For sodas, we recommend a ratio of one (1) part shrub to 4-6 parts seltzer depending on how strong you like your drinks.
For cooking, use our shrubs in lieu of whatever acid you are using (i.e. lemon juice, red wine vinegar) for acidity. 

All is by your preference, adjust as needed after tasting. 

What type of vinegar do you use? 

We only use organic apple cider vinegar.

Does Purely need to be refrigerated? 

Purely drinking vinegar is shelf stable meaning it does not need to be refrigerated until it is opened. Once opened, it should be refrigerated. 

Can I use Purely with food? If so, how? 

There are many uses for Purely in the kitchen. Just replace any other acid (balsamic vinegar, red wine vinegar, lemon juice, etc.) you use in your cooking with Purely. It's great as a salad dressing as well. Shrubs are also great for baking. When mixed with baking soda, it creates a carbon dioxide which makes muffins, cakes and pancakes fluffier. When marinating meats, vinegar helps tenderize the meat so our shrubs are functional AND add a punch of flavor.

Is Purely Drinking Vinegar vegan/gluten free? 

Yes! Our drinking vinegar/shrubs is plant based and are naturally vegan and gluten free.

Is Purely pregnancy-safe?

Yes! Many of our customers who are pregnant enjoy Purely as a mocktail as it is easy to use. However, if you're still unsure we recommend to always consult with your physician first!

Does your product contain alcohol? 

No. Purely is alcohol-free but it can be a mixer for cocktails!

Does Purely have caffeine in it?

Not one drop! Purely  is caffeine-free, making it a great substitute for an afternoon pick-me-up. Read more on our blog about going caffeine-free!

Can my kids drink Purely?

Absolutely! PURELY is a great, healthy juice and soda alternative for your kids. When we demo at events, kids love our drink!

How long does my order take to be processed?

It would take 1-3 business days for our team to process it. We try to shoot for one day (normally the case) but please bear with us through this difficult time as we are short-staffed during the pandemic. The delivery service provider (USPS, UPS, FedEX) will take 1-3 days for delivery depending on the shipping you paid for. If you have something urgent, feel free to reach out orders@purelydrinks.com, we will try our best to accommodate your request! 

Return & Exchange

Since this is a food and beverage item, we are not able to accept any returns on any products other than those which have been damaged in shipment, are defective or are not the item you ordered. Unfortunately, we can not accept exchanges at this time.
